Indaba // Who we are

A gathering to settle the matter

In South Africa, an indaba is a gathering called to talk a matter through and resolve it. The right people, the full facts, one table. It is the idea behind everything we do.

// 01 The idea

Most commercial trouble is avoidable

Overruns and disputes rarely come from one bad decision. They come from small gaps left open: a scope assumption nobody checked, a notice that went out late, a forecast that stopped being updated. By the time they surface, the record needed to fix them is scattered.

An indaba brings the matter to the table early, with the documents in order. That is how we approach a job's commercial side: gather the facts, set them out clearly, and settle the position before it becomes an argument.

// 02 What we are

An offshore commercial team for construction

Indaba is a team of quantity surveyors and commercial professionals based in South Africa. We work for builders and subcontractors in Australia, for construction clients in South Africa, and behind partner firms who need delivery they can trust.

Our work spans the whole commercial life of a project: estimating and cost planning, contract administration and claims, programming and reporting, the business view above the jobs, and expert witness and quantum/delay opinion support when a matter is contested.

// 03 How we think

Three ideas, applied to every job

01

Control

Every commitment tracked against the contract: scope, time bars, notices and cost. Nothing left to memory.

02

Clarity

Records and numbers anyone can follow, in your formats, so decisions rest on facts rather than instinct.

03

Commercial confidence

Knowing your position before you have to argue it: priced, documented and ready.

// 04 Why South Africa

Depth, and a working day that follows yours

South Africa has a strong construction and quantity surveying profession. For South African clients, that means commercial depth in your own time zone. For Australian clients, it means a team whose working day continues after yours has ended. We work while Australia sleeps, so progress is ready to review before your morning coffee.

// 05 What we hold ourselves to

The standards we keep

  • We don't claim certifications we don't hold.
  • We never share one client's pricing with another, or name a client without permission.
  • We raise a query rather than guess, and say plainly when something sits outside our scope.
  • We would rather earn the second job than sell a long contract. Begin with one and judge us on it.

// Begin with one job

Bring us one job. Judge us on it.

A tender, a claim, a programme or a forecast. Send it with the deadline and we'll come back with a scope and a price.
